ORRINGTON and DEERFIELD, N.H. – Sadie Arlene (Bowden) Sears, 88, passed away July 21, 2009, at her daughter’s home in Deerfield, N.H. She was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Orrington, the daughter of Harrison and Inez (Parker) Bowden. Sadie was predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Lt. Col. Donald R. Sears, retired. She was also predeceased by her brothers, Vinal, Ken, Bud, Harry and Albert Bowden; and sisters, Esther Bridges, Phyllis Howard and Dorothy Rich. She is survived by her children, Joe and wife, Suzanne, of Deerfield, N.H., Bill and wife, Denise, of Boca Raton, Fla., Carol Ann Stevens and husband, Tom, of Deerfield, N.H., and Susan Perry and husband, Mike, of Tampa, Fla.; grandchildren Amanda, Keegan, Kate, Chris, Tom Jr., David and Bethany; great-grandchildren, Raechel, Jakob, Chloe and Forrest; sister, Mildred Pelton of Kansas; as well as many nieces and nephews. Sadie loved tending flowers for her enjoyment, as well as that of others, her afternoon soaps and most of all, her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 25, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with the Rev. Robert T. Carlson officiating. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 10 a.m. until time of service Saturday. Interment will be at Mount Hope Cemetery, Bangor. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments at Brookings-Smith Family Center, 163 Center St., Bangor, after the interment.
