PLASTER ROCK, New Brunswick – Elva Margarite Elliott, 88, wife of the late Gerald Edward Elliott, passed to her heavenly home Aug. 29, 2009, at Tobique Valley Manor, Plaster Rock, New Brunswick. She was born Elva Margarite Estey Oct. 25, 1920, in Knoxford, New Brunswick, daughter of the late Wilmot and Pearl Estey. Elva was born, grew up and lived 84 plus years at the family homestead in Knoxford, New Brunswick. When her home was tragically taken from her by fire, she resided for a short time in Centerville, New Brunswick, before moving to the manor in Plaster Rock, New Brunswick. Elva was a lifetime member of Knoxford Women’s Institute and a member of Knoxford Praying Band Church. Elva worked for many years in the first-aid room at McCain Foods Ltd., while working alongside her husband to maintain the family farm. Elva leaves behind four loving children, Carolyn Reed and husband, the Rev. Lawrence, of Harvies Lake, Pa., Alberta Gough and husband, Eugene, of Mapleton, Reginald Elliott and wife, Carleen, of Presque Isle, and Sheri Elliott of Windsor, Ontario; her adoring grandchildren include Melody and Leonard Spinelli, Joy and Scott Ryman, Terri Gough, Norman Elliott, Matthew Elliott, William Elliott, Aimee Elliott, Kaurie Elliott and Jessie Elliott; also great-grandchildren, Austin Ryman and Jonas Elliott. Elva leaves behind sister-in-law, Delores Estey of Truro, Nova Scotia; brother-in-law, Devern Green of Grand Manan Island; as well as several nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was predeceased by her husband Jan. 1, 1994; sister, Doris Green; and brother, Malcolm Estey. The family thanks Elva’s manor family for all their loving care. She loved you all. Calling hours will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Atlantic Daylight Time Tuesday, Sept. 1, at Knoxford Praying Band Church, Knoxford, New Brunswick, where a funeral service will be held immediately afterward with the Rev. Andy DeRier officiating. Interment will be at Upper Knoxford Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Tobique Valley Manor Generator Fund, Plaster Rock, New Brunswick.
