PRESQUE ISLE – Marie A. Dobson, 93, died Sunday, Nov. 8, 2009, at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born July 8, 1916, at Portage Lake, the daughter of Frank and Agnes (Emond) Landry. She was a graduate of Schenck High School, East Millinocket, where she played on their first girls’ State Championship basketball team. She loved sports, especially basketball, and was an avid bowler in her younger years. Marie will be missed by her friends at Friday night bingo at the Elks Club, and her neighbors at McCulley Commons. She is survived by two daughters and their husbands, Cecile and Dick Wilcox of Mapleton, Gale and Al Martin of Providence, R.I.; a son, Steven and his wife, Prudy, of Washburn; son-in-law, Steve Stearns of South Paris; 17 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren; and two special friends, Louise Seeley and Joyce Michaud. Marie was predeceased by her husband, Urbain “Herb” Dobson; a son, Herbert Wesley; a daughter, Judy Stearns; two sisters, Cecile Michaud and Vie Gagnon; a brother, Joseph Landry; and one great-grandson, Thomas Dobson. Relatives and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Wednesday at Parish of the Precious Blood, St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Raymond Morency officiating.
