WINTERPORT – Mary Regina (McPhee) Woolford, 97, died Nov. 24, 2009, at a Bangor nursing center. She was born July 12, 1912, in Bangor, the daughter of Joseph W. and Mary M. (Curley) McPhee. Regina was educated in the Bangor Catholic schools and attended C.W. Post College, Long Island, N.Y. After her marriage to Richard M. Woolford, Regina was an active officer’s wife while Dick held various military posts and later as he was chief of the planning division of the Air Force. They retired to Winterport in 1969. Regina was involved in her community as a member of Women’s Club, historical society and Winterport Union Meeting House. She enjoyed her home, sailing with Dick, playing bridge and spending time with her many friends. Regina was also a communicant of St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church. She was predeceased by her husband; two brothers, James and Philip J. McPhee; and an adopted son, Donald J. Cunningham. Surviving are several cousins, including Catherine E. Thomas, Betty Fraser, Barbara Young and M. Josephine Ripley, all of Canada; and a dear friend and neighbor, May Pardy of Winterport. A memorial Mass will be celebrated noon Wednesday, Dec. 2, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Gabriel’s Catholic Church, Winterport. A private burial will be held at Oak Hill Cemetery, Winterport.
