LINCOLN – Hope Harris Oldenburgh, 82, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 16, 2009. Hope was born Jan. 27, 1927, in Howland. She was a dedicated mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She enjoyed watching sports, especially her beloved Red Sox. Hope attended Howland High School. She worked at many local companies after high school, but the majority of her life was being a dedicated wife and mother, raising her five sons and one daughter. Hope was predeceased by her parents, Forrest Adelbert Harris Sr. and Celia Irene (Veino) Harris; her husband of 56 years, Birchum Allen “Rusty” Oldenburgh; brother, Forrest “Fod” Harris of Howland; and stepbrother, Gerald Harris. Hope is survived by her brother, James Weldon Harris of Baileyville; sister-in-law, Birgit Harris of Howland; stepson, William Crocker and his wife, Brenda, of Lincoln; sons, Douglas Oldenburgh of Spindale, N.C., Daniel Oldenburgh and companion, Virginia Soucy, of Ridgecrest, Calif., Rick Oldenburgh and companion, Mary Schmidt, of Albuquerque, N.M., James Oldenburgh and companion, Wendi Ireland, of Lincoln and Paul Oldenburgh of Houston, Texas; daughter, Melissa Oldenburgh and companion, Cody Wells, of Clarksville, Ind.; grandchildren, Dina, Dawn Marie, Billy, Jana, John, Phillip, Kayla, Thomas, Inger, Ashleigh, Kristie and Nikki; and several great-grandchildren. Visitation with the family will be 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Friday, Dec. 18, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where a celebration of life will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 19. A spring burial will be scheduled at a later date.
