OLD TOWN – Eloise May Hilchey, 86, died Dec. 28, 2009, at a Portland hospital. She was born May 24, 1923, in Old Town, the daughter of Stanley M. and Nettie M. (Landry) Hilchey. Eloise graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1940, and then attended Beal Business College. In her early years she was the deputy tax collector for city of Old Town. She then made her career working for Commercial Credit for 28 years, retiring in 1984. Eloise was a lifelong communicant and member of Holy Family Parish, Old Town. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by seven sisters, Thelma Braley, Irene Grant, Dorca Braley, Anne Dow, Emma Hilchey, Natalie Crawford and Fern Hilchey; and one brother, Stanley Hilchey Jr. She is survived by a sister, Joan Johnston of Newberry, Mass., and Florida; and 13 nieces and nephews. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in the spring at Parish of the Resurrection of the Lord, Holy Family Church, Old Town. Interment will be at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Old Town.
