SKOWHEGAN, NEW YORK CITY and BANGOR – Geraldine M. Keast of Bangor, passed away Saturday, April 10, 2010. She was born Aug. 6, 1925, the daughter of Guy and Melissa Giles. Geraldine was married to Edwin P. Keast and had two children, Lloyd G Keast and Gale Shaefer. They farmed and then ran a restaurant on the Waterville Road for six years. In 1970, Geraldine moved to New York City, where she worked as executive housekeeper at Webster Apartments, an all girls residence on 34th Street. In 2002, Geraldine moved to Bangor near her family and resided at Sunbury Village for eight happy years. Her son, Lloyd G Keast; and her sister, Joyce Kent, predeceased Geraldine. Two sisters, Janice Giles and Anna Hodgkins of Skowhegan; her daughter, Gale Shaefer of Lincoln; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, a special friend, James Stanley, several nieces and nephews survive her. A memorial service will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 24, at Sunbury Village, Bangor. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to New Hope Hospice, 106 Main Road, Holden, ME 04429.
