PITTSFIELD – Joseph “Joey” A. Ballard, 49, died Monday, April 12, 2010, in Pittsfield. He was born March 12, 1961, in Pittsfield, the son of Byron and Carolyn (Packard) Ballard. He was employed as a truck driver for Sullivan’s Waste Disposal, Thorndike. Joey had the ability to make people laugh. He enjoyed gardening, fishing and watching wrestling. He loved to cook and was famous for his lasagna, baked beans and his beer can chicken. He also helped on his family’s farm in Pittsfield. He will be dearly missed. He is survived by his parents, Byron and Carolyn Ballard of Pittsfield; his sister, Kathy Vanadestine and her husband, Terry, of Hartland; his brother, Randy Ballard and his wife, Lisa; his children, Jordan, Ashley and Sonja; his girlfriend, Rhonda Goulette of Pittsfield; several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his brothers, Jimmy and Steven. The family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Shorey-Nichols Funeral Home, 191 Hartland Ave., Pittsfield, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, April 16, with the Rev. Kevin Brooks officiating. The family requests that friends come casually dressed in honor of Joey.
