VEAZIE – Elaine “Skippy” Mitchell, 79, died Thursday, Oct. 21, 2010, at a Bangor health care facility. She was born April 23, 1931, in Bangor, the daughter of E. Atwell and Thelma (Turner) Blaisdell. Skippy spent most of her life in Veazie. She was a graduate of Bangor High School and Husson College. She enjoyed a career as a secretary working for the University of Maine for more than 25 years. Skippy will always be remembered for her dry sense of humor, and her frank and honest nature. She was a longtime member of Bangor Baptist Church. She is survived by her devoted and loving husband of 33 years, Dean Mitchell; children, Scott Thomas and his wife, Jane, of Orono, Kim Shaffer and her husband, Doug, of Veazie, Alice Gonyar and her husband, Robert, of Williston, Vt., Pamela Guerrette and her husband, Ronnie, of Glenburn, Eloise MacArthur and her husband, Arthur, of Martinsburg, W.Va., Wallace Mitchell and his wife, Barbara, of Sherman, Martha Landry and her husband, Raymond, of Sherman and Deanna Williams of Sherman; brother, Ernest Blaisdell and his wife, Judy, of Otis; grandchildren, Matthew, Michael, Jeremy, Christopher, Kaylie, David, Mark, Rachel, Renee, Melissa, Chuck, Laura, Keith, Jeff, James and Crystal; great-grandchildren, Elaine “Lainey,” Simon, Bella, Chase, Dawson, Delanie, Lily, Austin, Cameron, Erica, Ethan, Keith, Bradley, Ethan, Olivia and Isabelle; and a lifelong dear friend, Carolyn Brown. A celebration of Elaine’s life will be held 1 p.m. Monday, Oct. 25, at Bangor Baptist Church, 1476 Broadway, Bangor, with the Rev. Dr. Jerry Mick officiating. Interment will be afterward at Fairview Cemetery, Veazie. After the services relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments in the cafeteria of the church.
