GLENBURN – Elwood A. “Eli” Grant, 77, passed away Oct. 22, 2010, surrounded by his family at an Orono health care facility. He was born April 16, 1933, in Bangor, the son of Arvel and Eleanor (Embelton) Grant. Elwood was employed by Coca-Cola Co. for 42 years, retiring in 1993. He enjoyed slow pitch softball, hunting and fishing, and was an avid golfer and a storyteller. He loved life, his family and a “good hug.” Eli is survived by the love of his life, his wife of 59 years, Barbara (Trundy) Grant of Glenburn; three sons and their wives, Terry and Greta Grant of Corinth, Steven and Elaine Grant of Bangor and Bruce and Diane Grant of South Portland; three daughters, Roberta Summerton of Maud, Texas, Peggy and her husband, Dale Braley, of Glenburn and Jody and her husband, James Martin, of Monmouth; one brother and his wife, Malcolm and Eva Grant of Glenburn; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his sister and brother-in-law, Vena and Donald Hillman; and niece, Nola Grant. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments 1-4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 30, at his son’s home, 88 Boutelle Road, Bangor.
