BANGOR – Frances E. Burns, 92, died Oct. 22, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. She was born April 17, 1918, in Morrill, daughter of Wilbur and Ethel (Goodwin) Barlow. Frances was an active member of Norman N. Dow Post No. 1761, now Norman N. Dow-Isaac E. Clewley Post No. 1761. She enjoyed dancing, camping, traveling and walking at the mall. Frances was a strong proponent of gaming and appreciated the people of Maine being open minded about the building of Hollywood Slots, Bangor. She even attended the grand opening. Surviving are one son, Wayne F. Holyoke of Bangor; four grandchildren, Bruce D. Holyoke and his wife, Charlene, of Bangor, Kavin D. Holyoke and his wife, Michele, of Brewer, Karen L. Marsters and her husband, Irv, of Glenburn and Brian W. Holyoke and his wife, Veronica, of Houlton; two great-grandchildren, Crystal and Craig; and one stepsister, Ruth Smith of Brewer. She was predeceased by her first husband, Lewis Holyoke; her second husband, Thomas Burns; and her daughter-in-law, Donna Holyoke. A memorial service will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 26, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 9:30 a.m. until the time of service Tuesday.
