MEDWAY – Welhelna “Pat” Cox, 84, wife of the late Wendell Cox, died Jan. 31, 2011, at a Lincoln hospital. She was born Nov. 20, 1926, in Keegan, the daughter of Louis and Rosanna (Caron) Gagnon.

Pat grew up in Aroostook County and spent many years as a young girl in potato fields, and doing what she did best, sewing potato bags. She married Wendell Cox and moved to Medway, where she spent her time raising her four children and farming. Sewing and yard sales were her passion. She was a very generous and giving person. You could always find a trinket at Pat’s house. She was well known for her quilts, pillowcases and potholders that her family will never be without. She loved her family and was fortunate enough to have four great-great-grandchildren.

She is survived by three children, Stephen Cox of East Millinocket, Orland and Bonita Cox of Lincoln and Joanne and John Beaulieu of Medway; grandchildren, John Beaulieu of Jay, Michelle Fogg of Medway, Patricia Lyons of Lincoln, Orland Cox Jr. of Lincoln, Rebecca Turcott of Vassalboro, Leroy Cox of Molunkus and Ethan and Mikayla Beaulieu of Medway; great-grandchildren, Chad, Katie, Connor, Alisa and Chera Beaulieu, Justin, Brittany, Adam and Elisha Lyons, Mark Fogg, Jacob Rhodes, Joshua Cox and Nicholas and Caden Turcott; great-great-grandchildren, Aiden, Alkira, Ashton and Trent; a sister, Marie Germaine Helms and her husband, Albert, of Chester; many nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a son, Thomas Cox; a daughter-in-law, Ruth Cox; three brothers, Armand, Edward and Joseph Gagnon; and two sisters, Ruth Quimby and Clara Tibbetts.

Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Thursday at Calvary Temple Assembly of God, 2 Orchard St., East Millinocket, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Friday with the Rev. Regginal Adams officiating. Spring interment will be at Grindstone Road Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of one’s choice or place of worship.
