HALL QUARRY – Carol A. Howatt, 73, died Feb. 4, 2011, at a Dover-Foxcroft nursing home. She was born April 9, 1937, in Southwest Harbor, the daughter of George and Lucille (Campbell) Grant Sr.

She was a graduate of the University of Maine at Farmington and was employed as a home aide with Community Health and Counseling. Carol loved to travel and saw a lot of the country. She was an avid reader and the family is sure she has now found a cozy spot to relax and read a good mystery.

Carol is survived by a daughter, Jennifer Howatt of Ellsworth; a brother, George Grant Jr. and wife, Lucille, of Newport; a sister-in-law, Shirley Grant of Kittery; a niece, Wendy Grant of Exeter, N.H.; four nephews, Josh and wife, Katie Grant, of St. Albans, Jody Grant and his significant other, Darlene Hopkins, of Plymouth, Torrey Grant of Syracuse, N.Y., and William Black of Augusta; one great-niece, Peyton Grant; and two great-nephews, Alex and Andrew Grant. She was predeceased by a brother, David Grant; and a nephew, James Black.

Spring graveside services will be held at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport. Those who wish may leave written tributes at
