CALAIS – Gregory W. Olsen Smith, 54, passed away unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 18, 2011, in Quincy, Mass. Greg was born Dec. 25, 1956, in St. John, New Brunswick.
He began working at an early age driving truck to Boston. Throughout his life Greg was known to all as a hardworking and gentle man. Due to his work ethic and generosity, he has touched many lives and will be missed by all who knew him. Greg often found peace spending time on his boat in Passamaquoddy Bay and assisting his wife in rescuing animals in need.
He was predeceased by his grandparents, Joseph and Margaret (Stewart) Olsen, and Harry and Charlotte Smith; as well as his special adoptive mother, Margaret Morrison. In addition to his siblings, Greg is survived by his devoted and loving wife, Debbie; his two wonderful children, Jo-El Smith of Wilmington, N.C., and Shawn Smith and his wife, Chelsea, of Amboy, Wash.; his father-in-law, Louis Morrison of Calais; his close friend, Gene Tucker of St. Andrews, New Brunswick; many nieces, nephews and dear friends.
In keeping with Greg’s wishes, there will be a celebration of his life 3 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 24, at Townhouse Restaurant, Main Street, Calais. Donations in Greg’s memory may be made to Frank E.
