NEWPORT – Florence Parsons, 92, died Feb. 21, 2011, at Odd Fellows Home, Auburn.

She was born May 6, 1918, in Plymouth, a daughter of Guy and Emma (Nelson) Slipp.

She graduated from Newport High School, Class of 1936, and attended Maine School of Commerce, now Husson University, Bangor. She was married to Robert Wilson Parsons, who predeceased her in 1988. She was employed for many years as a bookkeeper at Gilman Hardware, Newport, retiring in 1989. She attended Calvary Baptist Church, Newport, and was a member of Eastville Grange, Victoria Rebekahs No. 74, Lakeside Ladies and Friendship Craft Club.

Florence is survived by two sons, Robert of Windham and David of New York; a daughter, Cynthia Filieo of Florida; four grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. The family thanks the fine staff at Odd Fellows Home.

At her request, there will be no visitation. A graveside committal service will be held 1 p.m. Friday, June 17, in the family lot at Riverside Cemetery, Newport, with Pastor Al H. Worden officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Odd Fellows Home Activities Fund, 85 Caron Lane, Auburn, ME 04210. Arrangements are by Crosby & Neal, Newport.
