VEAZIE – Lee G. Richard, 55, died March 22, 2011, with his loving family and friends by his side at home. He was born Aug. 1, 1955, in Bangor, son of Gerard and Alberta (Fortier) Richard.

Lee graduated from Old Town High School, Class of 1973. After high school, he worked with his dad in construction and later on became a glazier, went through training at Maine Bureau of Rehabilitation, received a $5,000 grant and opened his own company, Quality Glass. Lee married and had two sons, Jason and Cliff, that he loved very much. In 1985, Lee married Cheryl Gilbert and he immediately had three more children, Robbie, Jennifer and Jodi. Together he and Cheri had two dogs, Sassy and Mason, which he didn’t like very much! Lee and Cheri celebrated their 25th anniversary in April 2010. Lee fought a courageous battle against colon cancer for the last two years. Lee’s children and family meant the world to him. They all loved to go camping together, and he and Cheri took many wonderful trips together to the Caribbean and Hawaii. Lee and Cheri had many adventures and misadventures with their friends, Mike and Libby. One of his most memorable occasions was becoming a born again Christian. He was saved by God’s grace in June 2010. He became an active member of Faith Baptist Church, Orono, and he loved the fellowship with his new church family.

In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his grandparents; and his brother-in-law, Ralph Robinson. Surviving, in addition to his loving wife, Cheri, are his five children, Cliff and his wife, Felicia, of Orono, Jason of Brewer, Robbie and his fiancee, Kellie, of Virginia, Jennifer and her husband, Steve, of Winterport, and Jodi and her fiance, John, of Brewer; grandchildren that he loved very much, Brandon, Benjamin, Adam, Ashley, Michael, Nicholas, Jake, Kyle, Devin, Dylan, Kent and the youngest, Gerard, named after his grandfather and great-grandfather; brother, Brian and his wife, Joyce, of Camden; sister, Pam and her husband, Don, of Hampden; sister, Lynn and her husband, Stuart, of Texas; sister-in-law, Merry Robinson of Chesterville; nieces, nephews and cousins. His family expresses special thanks and appreciation to Dr. Fred Heineman, Dr. Astrid Andreescu and Pastor David Natale for their excellent care and kindness during Lee’s illness.

Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, March 26, at Faith Baptist Church, 160 Forest Ave., Orono, with Pastor David Natale officiating. Friends may call noon until the time of service Saturday. Interment will be this spring. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at the church.
