LINCOLNVILLE – Robert Allan Hall, 87, a former resident of Camden, Lincolnville, Belfast and most recently Bangor’s Eastside Living and Rehab Center, went to be with his Lord, Sept. 5, 2011. He was born Oct. 25, 1923, to Freedom L. and Nina (Meservey) Hall.
Bob was educated at Crosby High School in Belfast. He was employed at the sawmill on Slab City Road, Lincolnville, with Leon Varney. He was also employed at the tannery in Camden and was a long time employee of Mariners Asphalt and Paving Inc., from which he retired in 1988. In 1950, Bob married Muriel Handley of Camden at Kittery Point. He lived in Camden many years where he and Muriel raised their daughter, Deborah Jean and their son, Charles William. Bob was a lifetime member of King David’s Masonic Lodge No. 62 of Lincolnville, which he joined Sept. 2, 1947. Bob enjoyed fishing, gardening, listening to the loons on Coleman Pond and tinkering with his famous “magic screwdriver” on anything mechanical that may have once worked. He also loved Wasses Hot Dogs, in Rockland, with sauerkraut.
Bob is survived by his daughter, Debbie and husband, Zeke, of Waldo; his son, Charlie and wife, Shirlee, of Belfast; his granddaughter, Tammy Sweetland of Waldo; his grandson, Timothy Sweetland of Swanville; his five great-grandchildren, Krystofer, Anthony, Tristan, Krysta-Sky and Connor; several nieces and nephews; his lifelong friend, Jim Osier of Needham, Mass.; and his special extended family at Eastside Living and Rehab Center in Bangor; Sig and Jennifer; and numerous other wonderful caretakers. He was predeceased by his parents; two brothers, Leslie and Clifford; his former wife of 35 years, Muriel; and two great-grandchildren, Bryan Linwood and Rebekah Jean.
At Bob’s request, there will be no funeral or memorial service. Donations in Bob’s memory may be made to Coleman Pond Association, P.O. Box 126, Lincolnville, ME 04850 in memory of Bob’s love of the loons on Coleman Pond. Please mark check in memory of Robert Hall so the association knows what the donation is for. Arrangements are under the direction of Young Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 31 West Main St., Searsport.
