MADAWASKA – After a long battle with cancer, Jeslyn “Jess” Michaud, 79, passed away peacefully Nov. 5, 2011, surrounded by his family. He was born Oct. 13, 1932, in Frenchville, the son of Albert and Laura (Rossignol) Michaud.
Jess worked at Fraser Paper for more than 37 years, and was a strong member of his community and parish. Jess proudly served as a United States Marine during the Korean War. Semper Fi. He was a member of American Legion Post 147, Madawaska. Jess was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. A tinkerer at heart, he was always helping his friends and family. He was also a lover of nature and an avid bird watcher – a passion he shared with his son, Jean.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 55 years, Jeanne (Marquis); his two endeared sons and their families, Jean Michaud and Philip Michaud and his wife, Tina; his three grandchildren, Erica, Dana and Nicholas; and great-grandchild, Lily. Jess also leaves two brothers and three sisters, Reno, Roger and wife, Viola, Bernette Ricci, Joline Celantano and husband, Bob, and Jeanne Gray and husband, John; many in-laws, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by brothers, Elmer and Robert.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 10, at St. Thomas Aquinas Church. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and 9 a.m. until the time of service Thursday at Lajoie Funeral Home. Interment will be held immediately after the service in the parish cemetery.
