DETROIT – Lorraine A. Martins, 54, died Dec. 22, 2011, at a Pittsfield nursing home. She was born March 12, 1957, in Oak Bluffs, Mass., daughter of Raphael and Joan (Dahill) Saint.
She graduated from Dartmouth High School, class of 1975, and received a legal certificate from Kinyon-Campbell Business School. Lorraine was a communicant of St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield. She was an avid reader, excellent cook and a caring mother. She was funny and witty, and enjoyed joking with staff at the nursing home and keeping them supplied with chocolate.
In addition to her parents of St. Albans, she is survived by two sons, Eric and Adam Martins; a daughter, Elizabeth and husband, Adam Ross, all of Detroit, Maine; five sisters, Monica and husband, Merrill Chace, of Acushnet, Mass., Barbara Saint of New Bedford, Mass., Joanne O’Neill, Anne Marie and husband, Steve Saint-Martin, all of San Diego, Calif., and Brenda and husband, Walter Mendonca, of St. Albans; and a dear friend and former husband, John Martins of Auburn. The family thanks the staff at Pittsfield Rehab and Nursing for all their loving care to Lorraine. Throughout her seven years there, they weren’t just caregivers but became her friends.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 29, at St. Agnes Catholic Church, Pittsfield, with the Rev. Kent Ouellette officiating.
