SCARBOROUGH and FORT FAIRFIELD – Philip L. Cloney, 80, husband of Tammy L. (Archer) Cloney, passed away Friday afternoon, May 25, 2012, at a Scarborough hospice facility, after a brief illness. He was born April 28, 1932, in Fort Fairfield, the son of Herbert E. Sr. and Isabel (Johnston) Cloney.

Philip was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. He was married to Tammy L. Archer July 12, 1990, and was a resident of Thomaston, Conn., where he established Cloney Farms Trucking which he operated for 35 years, and became a resident of Scarborough in 1992.

In addition to his parents, Mr. Cloney was predeceased by two brothers, Leonard Cloney and Herbert E. Cloney Jr.; and one sister, Mildred J. Cloney. He is survived by his wife of almost 22 years, Tammy L. Cloney; one son, Kevin T. Cloney, both of Scarborough; several nieces and nephews, including a special nephew whom Philip loved as a son, Dana Cloney and his wife, Susan, of Northfield, Conn.

A private graveside service with military honors will be conducted at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Cloney to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, Hospice of Southern Maine, Scarborough, ME 04074. Arrangements have been entrusted to Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
