LYMAN, Maine — A head-on collision between two sport utility vehicles sent multiple people to the hospital Monday afternoon, according to police.
A Chevrolet Trailblazer operated by Thomas Haig, 38, of Waterboro was heading southbound on Hill Road around noon when his vehicle crossed the centerline and collided with a Suburban driven by Taylor Solari, 18, of Kennebunkport, according to York County Maj. Bill King.
Haig’s daughters, ages 10 and 12, were in his vehicle with him, King said, and in Solari’s car were passengers John Bagley, 20, and another individual police would not identify.
Solari was towing an 18-foot boat behind his vehicle, according to King.
All involved were taken by ambulance to Southern Maine Medical Center in Biddeford, King said. Haig and Solari had to be extricated from their vehicles.
Haig was in critical condition Monday evening, King said. There was in information available on the condition of the other victims. A hospital spokeswoman had no updates Tuesday morning.
The accident remains under investigation.

Horrible accident…..mid-day on a clear afternoon….these “accidents” seem to be a regular occurance lately…..Crazy…..
Yeah, it seems like a daily occurance on Maine’s highways and roads. Sad.
What is there some weird natural phenomenon going on around here? There seems to be a whole lot of vehicles of all shapes and sizes crossing the center line lately.
I agree, there are so many unexplained accidents that occur on good roads, in good weather, during the day. However, I follow and see cars everywhere wandering all over the road, not sure if texting, reading, talking etc;.
Also, new cars especially SUV’s are so soundproofed now a lot of drivers have no situational awareness, and have no idea what is going on around them. I had an ambulance pass me recently and watched it follow the car in front for about 3 miles before the car yielded
“when his vehicle crossed the centerline”… I drive the Maine coast for a living and have had many near misses over 13 years. It definitely is getting more common. Scary.
Hope all recover. This is why I will gladly pay at the pump with my suv. Try surviving that in a Prius.
