SHERMAN and PALM HARBOR, Fla. – Darrell E. Seavey, 102, passed away Sept. 20, 2103, in Palm Harbor, Fla. He was born June 9, 1911, in Sedgewick, the son of Irving E. and Nettie (Friend) Seavey. He attended schools in Sherman and graduated from Ricker Classical Institute of Houlton.
He owned Seavey’s Garage in Sherman, which he operated for over 60 years. Darrell was a member of Molunkus Masonic Lodge No. 165, Sherman, where he was a 70 plus year member and Past Master, and a life time member of the Sherman Order of the Eastern Star. He was a long time volunteer fireman and selectman of Sherman and a member and Deacon of Washburn Memorial Church.
Darrell above all was a devoted family man. He loved working on old cars, lawnmowers and bicycles. He had a wonderful sense of humor, a zest for life and loved telling old stories. One of his great joys in life was his family cottage on the ocean in Sedgewick. He was a true gentleman.
He is survived by his daughter, Barbara Kvetcovsky of Newport, N.H.; three grandsons, John Kvetcovsky of Newport, N.H., Jared Seavey of Kensington, N.H., and Jason Seavey of Malibu, Calif.; great-granddaughters, Parker and Cienna; nieces and nephews; Debra Vanderweit, a granddaughter; also Charles and Ole May VanDette, Lois Wheeler, DelRita Pearl and Ralph VanDette. He was predeceased by his wife, Rose of 55 years; a son, William; a son-in-law, John and Eva VanDette, a close companion of 17 years.
