CALAIS, Maine — A Connecticut man was arrested Tuesday afternoon after leading police on a 13-mile pursuit.
David McKeen, 60, was apparently intoxicated during the chase, according to a statement from Calais police.
Police managed to get McKeen’s vehicle stopped in the area of the Ferry Point border crossing, according to the statement. He never crossed the Canadian border.
The statement said the pursuit reached speeds in excess of 20 miles per hour over posted speed limits.
McKeen was charged with drunken driving, eluding a police officer and passing a police roadblock, according to the statement.
Calais police were assisted by Baileyville, Indian Township, Pleasant Point and Eastport police, along with the Border Patrol, Maine State Police and Washington County sheriff’s deputies.
