HERMON, Maine — Andrew Crosby of Hermon crossed the finish line first in the Modified Enduro class at Speedway 95 on Wednesday night but was disqualified during post-race inspection for an engine-rule infraction.
As a result, Milo’s Dustin Lancaster was declared the race winner for his third straight win in the division.
Scott Bonney of Carmel finished second after having been passed by Lancaster on Lap 22 of the 25-lap feature. Pole sitter Rhonda Crain of Hermon finished third, followed by Delaney Dunn of Eastbrook and Kevin Hathaway of St. Albans, Vermont.
Sam Betts made it three wins in a row in the RoadRunners division.
Jason Trundy of Winterport led the second-place Betts by nearly a full lap on Lap 28 of the 35-lap race when Bradley Norris of Ellsworth drove way wide in turn four and struck the car of Hermon’s Fred Richards that was sitting in the dirt off turn four.
The car careened across the track, striking Trundy as he attempted to drive past the incident on the inside lane.
Trundy tried to continue on the restart but his car was too heavily damaged to be competitive.
Betts took the lead from Trundy on lap 29 and maintained that edge to the finish. Kyle Gallant of Glenburn finished second with Rick Gomm of Dixmont third.
In the RoadRunner stunt race, a ramp race, Ben Audet of Vienna was declared the winner when Bobby Seger of Frankfort was disqualified for missing too many ramp rides in the 10-lap event.
Joey Doyon of Winterport finished second with Blaine Coffin of Hermon third. Henry Boudreau of Winterport and Dustin Darrow of Carmel rounded out the top five.
No Stars of Tomorrow race was held as parents of the drivers decided the track was too damp and posed a danger to the 12- to 15-year-olds set to race in the division.
