ENFIELD – The Rev. Willmont L. Thurlow, 81, husband of Jean (Harris) Thurlow, went home to be with the Lord Oct. 21, 2011, at a Howland health care facility. He was born Dec. 27, 1929, in Enfield, the son of Edgar and Myrtle (Martin) Thurlow.
Willmont was strong in his faith and touched many lives through his ministry. Psalm 23:6 – Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
In addition to his wife, Jean, of Enfield, he is survived by five children, Ronald Thurlow and Celeste of Dracut, Mass., Lu Ann Wells and Steve of Kansas City, Mo., Jeffrey Thurlow and Mary Jean of Chelmsford, Mass., Kelsey Thurlow and Linda of Au Sable Forks, N.Y., and Denise McCormick and Mitchell of Islesford; a son-in-law, Hervey Clay of Lincoln; 19 grandchildren, Vicki, Stephen, Katie and Samuel Clay, Rachel Williams, Joshua and Thad Thurlow, Stephanie and Austin Thurlow, Anthony and Jordan Wells, Laura and Andrea Thurlow, Ryan and Kelsey Norwood, Katie Holland, Allan, Danielle and Melissa McCormick; 19 great-grandchildren; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Thurlow; several nieces and nephews. He also leaves a special stepbrother, Terry Applebee; and the extended Applebee family. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a son, Joseph Thurlow; a daughter, Sherry Clay; and two brothers, Richard and Carlton Thurlow. The family thanks the staff at Cummings Healthcare Facility for all they did for him.
Friends may call 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. Monday, Oct. 24, at Clay Funeral Home, 7 Lee Road, Lincoln, where funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday with the Rev. Scott Taylor officiating. A reception will be held immediately after the funeral at the funeral home. Interment will be at Mount Repose Cemetery, Burlington.
